DOUBLE DEEP RACKING

Key features:
  • Increased storage density compared to single-deep rack
  • Double storage capacity to accommodate high velocity SKUs
  • Uses traditional forklifts
Ideal for:
  • Medium or low number of SKUs
  • “First in, first out” application

Double deep racking consists of two rows of racking positioned back-to-back, each having two pallet positions deep. Each picking face gives access to two pallets deep. To have access to the pallet positioned at the rear, the lift truck must have a fork reach extension accessory.

What are the advantages of the double deep rack?

Double deep racking increases the storage density in your warehouse thanks to its two storage rows instead of just one as in the single deep racking.. If you have a medium or low SKU count, double deep racking is ideal. Although double deep racking requires forklifts with an attachment for extended reach, this attachment is less expensive than a forklift designed for the very narrow aisle racking, which must operate laterally.

What are the alternatives to the double deep racking?

  • If the count of SKUs is more important than the quantity per SKU, a single deep racking may be more suitable for your application.
  • If you have very few SKUs, a pallet flow racking could be advantageous for its high storage density.
  • If you have too many SKUs for a double deep racking and need to increase storage density, a very narrow aisle racking system might be the best solution.

Double deep racking: how can we help you?

Double deep racking is an excellent first step towards densifying storage. In addition to increasing storage capacity, it takes full benefits of traditional forklifts. Thanks to an in-depth audit that analyzes your products, your operations and your space, we will be able to properly configure the double deep racking to allow you to get the most out of it.
